We don't know anything about the origins of this vine variety which is very widely grown in the Gironde, it is the most popular vine variety in Petrus. The soil in Valais is ideal for its development. It makes a great red wine.

Vine variety: Merlot.
Colour: Deep purple-black.
Fragrance: Earthy, coffee and truffles.
Taste: Well rounded, powerful, full-bodied, mellow, vigorous, warm, powerful tannins are present in the after taste.
Alcohol: 13 % vol.
Ideal serving temperature: 16-18°C
Preservation: 10 to 15 years.
Fermentation: A long time in vats and then in barrels.
Name: AOC Valais.
Culinary accompaniments: Beef fillet, beef ribs, lamb, wild boar, game, steak tartar, fondue bourguignon and cheese.
