Marsanne (Ermitage)

This vine variety seems to have been introduced to the Valais in the middle of the 19th Century. It is originally from ‘Les Côtes du Rhône'. The soil in Valais is perfect for growing Marsanne. This is a great wine for the cellar as it improves drastically with age.

Vine variety: Marsanne.
Colour: Golden yellow.
Fragrance: White peaches, raspberries, vanilla.
Taste: Powerful, sumptuous, sculpted, complex and smooth. Being slightly tannic makes it naturally well adapted for aging.
Alcohol: 13.5 % vol.
Ideal serving temperature: 14-16°C
Preservation: 10 to 15 years.
Fermentation: On sediment, in barrels.
Name: AOC Valais.
Culinary accompaniments: apéritif, foie gras, calves sweetbread and kidney, white meat, salmon, tuna and cheese.
